How do I set up my Brand Voice and Identity?

Written by Kylee Masilongan

Overview

To ensure all the content we create perfectly matches your brand's unique style, it's essential to complete your Brand Information in the Storyy app. This section is divided into two parts: Brand Voice (how your brand sounds) and Brand Identity (how your brand looks).

Note: If you've completed the self-onboarding process, some of this information will already be automatically filled out for you! You can easily add to or update this information at any time.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Access Your Account Settings

From your Storyy app dashboard, look for the gear icon (Settings) located in the bottom left corner of your screen and click on it.

2. Navigate to the Brand Section

Once you are in the Settings menu, look at the left-hand sidebar under the "BRAND" section. Here, you will see tabs for both Brand Voice and Brand Identity.

Part 1: Brand Voice

Click on Brand Voice to define how your brand sounds—your tone, audience, and references. Run through each section to ensure accuracy:

  • About You & Audience: Review the context we use to write in your voice. This includes a description of "About You" and your "Intended Audience." Make any necessary edits and click Save.

  • Brand Tone: These are the personality traits that define your vibe (e.g., Approachable, Innovative, Casual). The app categorizes these into "Yes," "Kind Of," and "No." Click Edit tone if you need to make adjustments.

  • Location: Type and select the country, state, and/or city where your brand is based.

  • References: Share links to videos, social media accounts, or example content that showcases the style you love. This helps our team learn your preferred editing styles. Simply paste the URL and click Add.

  • Brand Notes: Use this text editor to provide specific instructions, extra context (like Brand Essence & Personality or Target Audience Insights), and any attachments for our team to follow.

  • Brand Guide: If you have an existing Brand Guide (a PDF with your fonts, colors, and correct brand usage), you can upload it directly here by clicking Upload PDF.

Part 2: Brand Identity

Next, click on Brand Identity on the left-hand sidebar to define how your brand looks across your content.

  • Basics: Enter your Brand Name (the name we use for your brand across content) and your main Website (used for brand context). Don't forget to click Save for each!

  • Brand Colors: Select your Primary, Secondary, and Accent colors. These will be applied across your generated content and are saved instantly.

  • Logos: Upload up to 4 versions of your logo. You can also download existing ones if needed.

  • Brand Font: Pick a Google Font or upload your own custom font to be used across your content.

By keeping your Brand Voice and Brand Identity updated, you ensure our team always has the right assets and context to make your content shine!
